Austria has a history rich with culture. Think Mozart, Beethoven, Strauss, Sigmund Freud and you will get some idea of the importance that this Central European country has played in the world’s history.
The UN endorsed, World Heritage Convention now has eight “World Heritage Sites” around Austria including Salzburg, the birthplace of Mozart, Vienna Old Town, the centre of power from the country’s imperial history, and Graz, a town that contains many different examples of the architectural styles from each era.
Hire a car and you will find that a network of motorways allow the visitor to travel easily from one site to another through the splendour of the vast Austrian landscapes. The varied contours are highlighted by a drive from the Alpine mountain ranges to the valleys in the East and there are many scenic car routes in between which can give you a taste of just how beautiful Austria is.
