Bulgaria
The Bulgarian lands record much of the country’s troubled history. It remembers many ancient civilizations in the ruins of palaces, cities and carvings on rocks and stone columns. However much has remained and stories are still told through Bulgarian folklore, arts and crafts and vivacious festivals.
Harnessing their tradition, modern Bulgarian culture has spread all over the world. The work of Bulgarian poets can be found in the Sorbonne, opera singers grace the world’s stages and paintings can be seen in the finest galleries.
The city of Sofia, Bulgaria’s modern capital, testifies to the country’s strong link between past and present. Historic landmarks and architectural monuments blend in with the city’s modern skyline.
The area surrounding Sofia is rich in natural beauty. Mount Vitosha offers an ideal destination for a drive through beautiful countryside and superb skiing in the winter. Three hours by car from Sofia is the Valley of Roses where hundreds of thousands of roses come into bloom May and June.
The main port of Varna is within easy traveling distance of a number of beach resorts.
With Bulgaria seeking to enter into the EU travel links are improving all the time and, as a result, business is expanding too. The country has a number of international airports and the frequency of flights is on the increase.
