Croatia
Croatia is a Central European and Mediterranean country with a population of about 4.5 million people. The capital, Zagreb competes with Budapest and Prague as a destination for short breaks. The thousand-year old upper town, or Gornji grad contains the Presidential Palace, the historic church of St. Mark’s, the Croatian parliament, and museums and galleries. While the 19th century lower town, or Dolnji grad, hosts shops, restaurants, cafes, theatres and parks. Novi Zagreb is mainly high rise buildings and of little interest to tourists.
There are more museums per square foot in Zagreb than in any other city in the world. Zagreb Plaso International Airport seems too small to be an international airport but deals quickly and efficiently with travellers.
Kastel Luksic aka Split is the second largest city in Croatia and is the largest city on the Adriatic coast. Split also boasts some impressive museums, such as the Maritime Museum, the Museum of Croatian Archaeological Monuments and the Museum of Croatia.
There are around four flights per day from Zagreb Airport to Split Airport or, if you prefer, you can hire a car at either airport. You can book this in advance by clicking here.
